Sad Requirement

Quick one, my car runs like a dream for the first five minutes or so until the SAD closes and then it is lumpy as fook.

My question is would it cause serious issues to bypass it and effectively run as if the car was stone cold all of the time?

Do all the usual checks looking for air leaks , ie split air hoses , disconnected breather pipes , missing bolt in the side of the inlet manifold , vacuum advance on distributor perished and pipe not blocked .

Then check the engine is in good tune - clean and gap the plugs , plug leads in good order , ignition timing set correctly etc .

Then finally run the engine up to temperature and set the tickover using the adjustment screw in the throttle body ( not the throttle stop screw ). Setting it to the high end of the recommended RPM may help the lumpiness .

If you have a CO meter you can set that while you are at it , I have the Gunsons one and it works well .

Disconnecting or bypassing the SAD will just give you a car that wants to stall all the time while cold , a recipe for an accident in traffic .

The true test is the next time you start from cold , it should tickover high then come down gradually as the SAD closes , without any stalling .

All of the above have been done (this has been going on for 6 months) I just happened to notice that the only time the low rev range is compliant is when it is stone cold (it drives like a normal car) and I just wondered if the choke effect of bypassing the sad had ever been tried by anyone here

I've been going through this for months too. My revs increase when it gets warm, lol! They are so frustratingJust when you think you're there another symptom creeps in :)

Start up and tickover issues have been resolved after cleaning the SAD and replacing some air hoses but my issue is pulling away and acceleration below 2500rpm
