Brake Servo

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know if there is a difference between LHD and RHD brake servos? Looking on Service Box there are different part numbers listed for the fuel injection models (i.e not base model cars) for RHD and LHD. Would be interested to actually see what the difference is and if the LHD 225mm servo I've found will fit my RHD car. Is it simply the case that the LHD models had a 225mm servo and RHD only 200mm?

RHD use 200mm, not sure if the 225 will actually fit as the 200mm is quite tight up against the scuttle panel already.

Good point, although I presume the servo on the LHD cars is actually in the same position, just on the other side of the car. Will have to google to try and find some pics of LHD cars I think!

Only reason I'm asking here is the base model 180mm servo I currently have is much deeper than the servo the GTi uses. This is a problem for the air horns on my TB's and getting a filter on the end. eBay just produced a brand new, genuine servo for the TU24 Euro Rallye models for the grand sum of 45 quid, and this is a much shallower servo which should give me some room to get a filter on the TB trumpets. Obviously I'm not 100% sure it wil actually fit.....!!

best get the tape measure out, don't forget the dimension specified is the diaphragm not the o.d.

Ah good point, cheers Mei.

Looks like the LHD models do have an extra cut out in the upper bulkhead for the larger servo that the RHD models dont have, so this may not be a bolt on fit.

Will update if I can get it to fit ;)
