Exhaust Manifold Design And Fab

Recommended Posts

Got an idea to create a 4-1 or 4-2-1 to fit an 8v XU which retains a factory type flexi joint, or one of the later V-band stainless mesh over flexi tube type as used on the phase2 xsara vts, specifically so you don't need to use the solid rubber lower mountings, but also just because :D

I do have a gti6 exhaust manifold which can donate its tubes if they aren't an excessive diameter, and also a fairly large bore downpipe which I plan to add a splitter of an appropriate length if its large enough too.

Wondering if there are any formulae or just some rough pointers to start mocking up what would fit in the space available?

My engine is effectively standard 1905cc 8v with a mild 272 ish cam.

I appreciate that most will have their own specific data they may not wish to impart, but a rough ballpark would be nice :D

yup, which annoys me, as I'm sure I remember a topic with some theory in it!
