Good find to save :)

Amazing how different the bodywork is when it became galvanised, I've never seen a pre galv one that hasn't got rust like this!

Gear rods may be shot. The plating can still look new after years. If its not the rods themselves then its the L bracket bush and the lower gear stick bush. The Ball on the subframe can also be loose.

High Idle is going to be a case of a little more investigation. As said above an air leak could be a simple fix. CHeck for air leaks after the Air flow meter in the elbow. They get old and crack. You may have to remove it to check.

Have you adjusted the idle screw on the TB?

We'll it certainly don't help that it's got a 1.9 afm on it,as it's been written in blue marker on the top of it

The throttle body has been adjusted so you can hear the click

I put my analyser up the exhaust and just read hi CO so it needs more looking into

But the afm Defffo needs changing

I had another good look round today and all I can say is that all the boot has not one spot of rust, under the rear seats are clear, inner

arches are clear, only rust is on the bottom rear quarter is all I can see, behind the headlights are spotless too

Amazed at how minimal the rust is for its age, I did not think this car was galvanised at all
