So Today Is My 10Year Anniversary Of Being A 205Drivers Member...

Ten years ago today i joined the forum :) Do i get a long service award? :P

Seen quite a lot of good cars come from you guys, seen various 'fads' of mods come and go, and indeed my own car has changed, grown and evolved over the years, almost like we've grown/matured together :P

Over the years this place has been an absolute treasure chest of information and inspiration, so thanks to all involved :)

Lets see what that next ten years brings!

Congrats Stu B)

Kind of interesting that you just posted this as it was just last night that I was looking at who had been on the forum for longer than me (got a shock when I realised I've had my current 205 for 7 years next month, and will have been on here for 9 years next month). Was having a bit of a browse through the members list with it filtered to show everyone who had joined before me and was quite surprised by some, as there's a few that I was convinced were relative newbies yet have been around for nearly 10 years. Then I filtered again to show the same but only showing those who'd visited the forum in the last year, and again was surprised to see that some have obviously been lurking (obviously just can't resist popping back, nosey buggers! :D).

Will you make it another 10 years? ;)

The real old timers are the ones that pre-date this current version of the forum

I'm not one of them but I've been here for 11 years now. Time flies and all that...

Indeed it does...

There have been periods where i've been a lurker in truth, just been browsing now and again, im not a massive poster now in fairness but i try to help where i can :)

As for being here another 10 years, well i don't see why not, i never intended on being into 205's for the last ten years so i don't see why that can't continue :P

Is that the old red and white design? I remember reading that in 2000/2001 when I was at Uni.

There were a few versions before that too, the earliest incarnation I remember was a single page bulletin board in the late nineties and when it's database started to corrupt itself we migrated it to a third party host, Network54 or something IIRC? That might have been red and white, I honestly don't remember.

The first version was set up by someone to go with their webpage and then forgotten about, presumably they sold their 205. When it started to fail there was nobody left in charge which was why we migrated elsewhere, whoever that was must have no idea that the community they started at some time in the nineties has evolved into what we have now.

Edit: my join date, 27 Nov 2002, is just when we changed to this forum software. I'm not sure if Cybernck still has backups of old versions from before then?

Unfortunatley my joining date isnt accurate - i joined in about 2002 - 2003, but I seem to remember a large forum crash in about 2004 where my profile was lost and so I had to be 'recreated' by the admins! :)

Yes, I remember that, there is a group of people with 2004 join dates that actually joined earlier.

You ought to make 30 useful posts (which would have been easy to do in the two years you've been a member on here) in order to gain full access to For Sale.

At least you are not obliged to pay £5 in order to post, such as on the aforementioned forum ;).

yey! I remember this and Network54.

Just a simple forum without the additional sub forums we have now.

The eagle eyes will spot Natashas off topics!

NickR and AndyY - ran this one......

My join date is later than 27th Nov 02 because I was on holiday when the board moved from the one above to the first incarnation of what we have now.

I was on PSC back in 1999!!

Serendipitously looked at this, checked...and I've been on here a couple of weeks over 10 years now, so just missed mine.

Still got the same CTi.

That's the forum I remember....not sure if I was about for Network54 though. 12 years + now, can name a few members that have been and gone.

I've got photos somewhere of the first South meet where we filled the car-park up with 205s. Vaguely remember Jackherer turning up in a recently converted 205Mi16 but hadn't put the dash back on.

You need to dig them out

I don't have that 205 any more but I still have the Mi16 in my garage and I think Anthony has the leather seats.

Iv done 8 years. Found this site when I first bought my white car, which was an ambishious project that never got off the ground.

Went to 306gti6.com bought a black ph3 that had been hydrolicked, put an engine in, that was my baby for 18 months until lift off over steer put an end to that.

Back to a 205. Found a lazer green 1.6 with a broken belt locally, pulled the head, one new valve later head on and it was my daily for 8 months until the starter packed up and it went into storage for 3 years.

Dragged it out last May, and it's getting a good going over, been on her recently more than ever. Nice people that are very helpful. Certainly attracts a different croud to E30zone which is the other site I use for my 325i cab.
