When I take a tight right hander, I have discovered that my Xs loses power, like fuel starvation, are there any reasons or simple fixes?

Calvin.

Okay, but got more than half a tank already, is that normal? Don't fancy doing Harewood with a full tank, it is supposed to be light...

It's the carb, possibly float sticking

Found the quote I got off Gower and Lee in my emails 4 years ago.

I'd give them a call.

George,

that's ace thanks, and a real tonic as I have had a bit of a heart attack and have at least six weeks on my hands to sit around and do nothing strenuous(which includes no driving for four weeks). If my mate gets the carb off, I can probably rebuild it at the kitchen table after a couple of weeks of rest. I'll send them an email. :)

Hope you make a speedy recovery chap!

Sounds like ideal time to rebuild the carb!

I bought the service kit for £39.95 from one place and the float for the same price from another. Does that help?

Just to be clear, neither were bought from Gower and Lee who are currently shut - until April 13th.

The float came from The Carburettor Hospital I think, I can't remember where I bought the service kit but it was their last one, so it kinda doesn't matter. I am thinking of getting another carb and rebuilding it off the car too.

I bit the bullet this weekend and replaced the floats. The ones that came off seemed fine, but I changed them anyway and the fuel valve too. Managed to lose a couple of nuts between the gravel drive and my chidren who knocked them off a table and didn't own up to it! Eventually found them all and refitted it. Had to guess where an O ring went etc.

Inintially started fine but quickly cut out as the carb over-filled with petrol. Took out the floats and visually adjusted the fuel cut off tab to the same as the floats that came of the car. That seemed to work but idling was at around 2000rpm. After some head scratching I adjusted the choke as that seemed half on and it now runs sweet as at 800rpm.

As for the problem of right hand bends, that seems to have disappeared meaning all you nice people who suggested it was the floats were absolutely spot on ;) . Thanks for the help and if this post tells you anything, you'll realise that I need all the help I can get, Thanks again.
