I'll drop some clues and see who gets it....

 

RWD

 

Mid engined

 

japanese (kei class)

 

practical (sort of)

 

rare

 

roughly 20 years old

 

similar vehicles have been known to have some pretty size able engine swaps, hyabussas, rover v8's (theres apparently one with a jet engine on somewhere)

Cappuccinos are the total opposite of practical :lol:

 

I'm going to guess a van of some sort, Daihatsu Hijet etc.

You should definitely put an XUD turbo in that, then make a lot of smoke! :lol:

i think the XUD turbo is the right choice, the plan is to mate it up to an LDV pilot gearbox, as they use a version of the XUD, so things should fit together in theory!

 

Whilst we're on the subject, does anybody have the rough height/depth/width of the average XU engine? The pickup has quite a short wheel base, so before I go too far into this idea, I'd need to check it would physically fit!

 

I did initially think that a stubby v6 of some description might be the ideal option, but couldnt find anything suitable without a huuuge gearbox
