Siem Driving Lamps - Different Types

There seem to be different types of Siem lights fitted to 205 GTIs...ones with quite obvious ridges/ribbing in the glass, and ones with much smaller ridges which give a 'clearer' sight of the silver lenses themselves. Was there a changeover date, or were both used interchangeably?

there was only one type of driving lamp, the clearer type, the others are fog lamps, same backing, different reflector and glass, different wiring and a switch.

Ah, so were these non-GTI?

 

I've just bought a set of used originals, thinking they were the right ones!

optional on the gti afaik, only fit the sport/gti type front valence.

Mine are wired into main beam by I'm guessing the last owner, not the best wiring imo it's on my to do list to tidy up. Are they meant to come on with main beam or separate switch? (sorry to hijack your topic)

no, yours will be standard factory wiring, that's how driving lamps are wired.

Ah cool just looks a tad dodgy with non standard looking connectors unless it's been re-wired

6025 71 1st light = Siem long range

 

6205 74 2nd light = Siem long range

 

6205 75 3rd light = Fog light

Why are they yellow? I don't like yellow.

Don't be fussy, I did have clear at one point but punted them.

 

Clears are still available outwith the fog option
