Find a hydraulics place buy a Allen hex head plug 12x1.5.

Almost identical to the plastic plug but steel so you won't chew the head up when you try to get it out in the future plus it has a captive proper rubber seal to stop water. Done.

Yes that is it. Depending on who made the plug they may need facing off so that the seal contacts before it bottoms out.

This is what I use - still showing as available and 49p each inc VAT.

It's the later 306 part that is black and has a T40 torx fitting so that you stand a slight chance of actually removing it again which you generally don't with the white 5mm hex variant.

That said, a "proper" part like Tom suggested would be good I reckon.

As long as the plastic ones are only nipped up when fitting, there shouldn't be any issues.

It's when people overtighten unnecessary that causes problems

Never seen the hex type, though last beam did have the white plastic ones, 205 uses the same part number

There's three different ones listed for 205's from memory and one of the part numbers is the white hex ones as pictured at the top of the page.

There's only one listed for 306's which is the black torx type.

The two others are the plugs for the non arb beams iirc.

Possibly, although I have seen them on ARB equipped ones (inc GTi) as well which have shown no evidence of being apart previously.

Not unknown for Peugeot to change stuff under the same part number.

if you look at the dimensions specified for the other two parts its evident that they aren't the threaded plugs.

One of them listed is the white variant at the top of the page - I know because I accidentally ordered some of them once instead of the black torx ones and cursed when I received them and realised my mistake!

I think it's part number 5179 07 as the plug head is 16mm and the height is 10mm, just seems a strange way to describe the part rather than thread size

Nice find in stainless. If you need them shortening let me know.

Was going to see how they worked out and have spoken to them about buying in bulk, at a reasonable saving, then offering them here. (service not money making)

Do you think 12mm will be too long?

Is it an easy/quick/cheap job to shorten?

Perhaps you want to add them to your range, would be a useful addition.

Easy job to shorten them when you have a lathe like me!

Try them in, if they need a bit off give me a shout I will sort them out for you.

Cheers Tom
