Knocking Sound At The Rear Of A 1.9 205 Gti

I recently bought a 205 Gti that needs a few things doing too it. When i was driving it back i noticed a knocking sound at the rear of the car. On the last MOT certificate which is from 2011, it says "slight play in pin bearing on nearside rear trailing arm". Could this be the cause of the knocking sound?

When buying a 205, it's a good bartering tool if owner has no history of beam rebuild.

slight play means the beam is shot unfortunately, how bad you can never tell until its stripped.

 

however I've never heard one actually cause a knocking noise even when completely shot, you would need to investigate properly.

 

I do believe Graham (pug ham) is fairly local to you if you don't fancy it yourself.
