Tu3M Died

Recommended Posts

My 1400 TU3M has suffered failure due to cooling system failure and overheating.

My question is this, is it worth finding a 106 XSI engine for it ... do a GTi conversion (tank, subframe, suspension....) or do I just replace with the same engine?

Just change the head gasket and check the head for trueness and all that.

that's alot less work than an engine swap??

I filled the car with some fresh oil to see if there was damage and the engine is knocking. Either piston and bore or head issue.

So I'm thinking the engine will be waiting to fail if I did the head gasket.

As I have injection, does that mean I could potentially fit another injected engine 106xsi for example?

Yes it does, I fitted a saxo vtr engine in mine (I like 8v) the other good thing is the rev counter will also work
