Skip Brown Cars

Recommended Posts

Im considering taking my car to be set up properly.

Anyone know how much a rolling road and tune up costs at Skip Browns?

Also if I go what should I make sure Ive done/replaced before to ensure they can just get straight into tuning.

I was thinking:

new plugs (done)

Check plug gaps

new ecu temp sensor

new ht leads (done)

clean and check SAD

check vaccume hoses (done)

check TPS (done)

clean throttle body (done)

Check injectors (done)

check fuel pressure (done)

Cheers

you don't need to check the plug gaps, they come pre-gapped.

coolant temp sender you can check with a multimeter.

TPS check, was this with a multimeter?

Ive checked the temp sender with a multimeter in boiling water and looked ok but Ive decided to change it for the sake of £12.

Ive removed the TPS fully from the car before and checked it with a multimeter off the car.

But when Ive set it up on the car I have just set it so it clicks the moment it comes on and off the throttle.

I didn't use feeler guages like the haynes says as I didn't have them on me at the time.

Last time I went to skips, it was £50 + vat

Paul usually recommends that the car is run on super unleaded, and the car has been well maintained

That sounds a very reasonable price.

Does that include sticking it on the rolling road?

I want it putting on the road to set the timing and AFM mixture up.

That £50 + vat was for rolling road.

Paul does road test first, then puts car on rollers and sets up. afm will be adjusted if needed.

Usually find though, that timing can't be set spot on, as over the years the internals of the dizzy wear

Skip brown are a little behind with the web but I've always found them very helpful approachable on the phone.

Finally got round to taking the car and it was well worth it.

Prices was £60 + VAT for rolling road and a tune up.

As Jord said he took it down the road and back before putting it on the rollers before and after making all the adjustments to the AFM and timing.

Car drives and idles nicer and he went through all the things he found wrong.

Would definitely recommend the place to anyone.
