Evo Magazine Search For 205 Gti

Recommended Posts

DanPEvo

Hi guys,

Hope you don't mind me posting in here. I'm trying to track down a standard 205 GTi 1.9 for a photoshoot for Evo magazine.

The shoot is on 5-7 March in North Wales. Naturally, we'll cover all your expenses.

If you fancy seeing your car in the mag, or if you have any other questions, drop a note below or message me.

We're also looking for a 306 Rallye, by the way...

Cheers!

Can it be standard looking, albeit slightly lower, or does it have to be 100% factory spec externally?

Evo subscriber here, so would love to see my 205 in the mag

I might be up for this, but mine's lowered 40mm...assume you want standard ride height? Mine's got a couple of dents dotted about but other than ride height is standard (just had standard exhaust fitted too!)

Thanks guys. We've got a couple of leads to chase, but if they don't work out I'll get back to you. Ideally the car will look standard, but we might be flexible.

My GTI has been polished and spruced-up a few times and checked over even more before I set off for Wales this afternoon for this photoshoot.

Fingers crossed for no breakdowns in the hands of the Evo journos!

It was a great 2 days with some superb cars, if a little boring hanging around in the freezing cold. Certainly a great experience though and I am glad I could make it.

The magazine will be out in a few weeks with some of my car in there and hopefully they will use the 12 car shot (with mine in there) on the cover too.

Richard Meaden and Jethro Bovingdon both drove it and seemed to like it but remarked how light the front end is compared to modern cars.

Richard apparentlty got it sideways for some of the photos and one of them is scheduled to be in the mag.

A great bunch of lads, with over 10 of them there as there were 21 cars in the test from all eras from the Golf Mk1 GTI upto the current Leon 280.

Looking forward to seeing it on the shelves in WHS.

The mag is out tomorrow. No mention of PSCUK or Drivers though sorry there was no opportunity for me to do so There were 21 cars that were there for the 4 decades of hot hatches.

The 205 is in 3 photos too and gets a good write-up apparently, I have not read the article myself.

Is it the one on 2 wheels? Apparently he was doing 80 mph and had to launch it into the air via a well placed bump in the road.

That's the one! It looks like quite a sharpish corner so fair play if he was going that fast!

The article really got me nostalgic. So pleased to see somebody in this community taking part too. Nice looking wheels you've got there stufarri. :)
