Temporary Loss Of Power

Hi Guys,

 

A quick question about a 2L turbo lump.

 

As I'm pulling through the revs I get a complete loss of power before it picks up and carry's on like normal.

 

I have had a search but not found any answers.

 

I was thinking it could be the MAF but this is built into the ECU, can it be replaced? My reason for thinking this is that my Audi TDI did the same thing when its MAF went faulty. I may not be in the car park let alone the ball park!! hahaha

 

Also I am about to change the fuel pump to eliminate that.....good idea??

 

The conversion is very tidy with no tilting of engine, 50mm ID pipe work has been used for the boost pipes. Someone I spoke to about the problem though it could be that the pipe work is too small!!???? I'm not sure I believe it though.

2" boost pipework is fine, my turbo car makes over 200bhp with them.

 

What boost is it running? Sounds to me like it could be the ECU cutting the engine due to overboost possibly.

there is no maf on these at all, it does have a MAP sensor onboard the ecu.

 

wise to get a boost gauge on there and see what is happening.

There is a boost gauge and the boost wastes when the loss of power happens. It runs standard boost of 0.7bar.

 

Hitting the overboost fuel cut possibly?

exactly what it says on the tin, if the ecu thinks there is too much boost it cuts things.
