A Few Pics Of My Dad's Gentry After Crash

Recommended Posts

mikeygulley

Hi all,

Thought I'd share these pics of my dad's Gentry Turbo. Some of you wil know he had a bad accident just before Christmas and hurt himself quite badly. Fortunately no one else was hurt at all.

He collided with 2 high top sprinter type vans, 1 was down the side and the other head on at speed after he was knocked unconcious.

He was lucky for sure, but it's my mother I feel sorry for! My dad only has the use of 1 arm normally and the result of this accident meant he had no use of both arms for 8 weeks!!!

His injuries were, snapped elbow (on paralised arm), 4 broken ribs, shattered shoulder blade (on good arm), 27 staples to back of his head, tore both ears half off from lobe up and plenty of cuts and brooses! Unfortunately his dog Gimli died in the accident :( both my parents were devastated at this news.

The 205 was finally released this morning so we wet and collected it.

One of Gimli :)

Take care out there, I'm lucky to still have dad!!

Hey man, might seem a little bad taste, but any chance you managed to salvage the door cards at all?

Oh... Bugger!

Wish you dad a good recovery.

It seems an extreme way to remove an engine!

Given the force of the impact wouldnt be sure anything mechanical would be usable.

Nothing mechanical at all, the engine and box were thrown 250 yards back down the road!! The cab held up well considering!

Its a shame that a 205 Gentry is no more but given what could have been lost (minus the doggy) it could have been far worse. I wish your Dad a speedy recovery and totally sorry he's lost a kick-ass 205. If you decide to sell the cards I'm only in Plymouth so could pay and collect from you.

Glad your Dad is ok now, sorry to hear about the dog :(

On a lighter note can I call dibs on the rear quarter badges and chrome drivers door insert?

Wow, that looks grim! Glad to hear about the happy end (of sort) though.

P.S. What's that in the corner of the first pic, with red wheels on - a 106?

Wow! Wish him a speedy recovery. From experience crashing a 205 does tend to hurt. I certainly have scars from ownership. Was this self inflicted? I missed the original thread I think

Well that sucks. Glad your dad escaped with his life. For a head on, the passenger compartment doesn't look too bad, so I'm actually quite surprised that your dad had such bad injuries from the waist up. Any idea what caused the accident?

He had only driven ~150 yards out of a petrol station, looks like he hit water. The witnesses said he was already sideways when he came into view. He had 2 bags of sand in the boot which burst through the back seats. He thinks that combined with bracing against the wheel broke his shoulder. A piece of bone also came out through his shoulder, shirt and leather warmer then went back in!! He says he can't remember a lot of it! He woke up in the passenger seat, his seat belt mount broke off!! He was very lucky!

The car with the red wheel is my brothers 106 gti. Also in view is my red 205 and Adams 309 Miami.

That looks bad but from the sounds of it he got off lightly bet they're gutted about gimli tho :/ seen a lot of pics of 205's in worse nick than that after bumps.

Sorry to be another vulture but does this have the reflector in the rear bumper? I'm desperate for one
