Fuel Cap Diffrences

Recommended Posts

minimaniacwhyard

As title suggests I bought a base model fuel cap for a base model vehicle out of scrap yard and it doesn't fit. How many variations are there and how do I know what one I need!

If no one can send some light what about an aftermarket one

I've only ever seen one type of fuel cap, could it be a difference between 3 and 5 door 205s as you're talking about a base model?

Bought off q j reg 205 for a m reg. Its a shame it doesn't fit. The lock set will though. But I still need a cap. Anymore suggestions maybe they're different from phase 1 to 2 any way to find out

Yes it doesn't even fit the hole properly. To small. It also moves freely when held in hand

doesn't sound like a 205 cap then.

This is the thing it defiantly is because its key fits the ignition barrel and locks I bought as a set. I've had 4 205s and the only difference I see is that this cap has an indent in like one I had before and not a flush cap like my last one. I can only think they varied from age on base model cars.

Has any one had experience with after market ones as I sort of need one

Rather embarisingly may have sorted the problem. I sat there on the sofa fuel cap and key in hand. Going to myself its free. Look it moves round this little metal bit. The metal bit being the top of the fuel filler neck that for some reason the breakers decided to send with it as well. Inserted in the cap to look like part of it.

Welsh pug i stand corrected

And i dont often say that
