Gti Subframe

Recommended Posts

Hi all, my xud conversion just failed it's mot on a bit of sub frame rot which I hadn't spotted. I was going to get a gti sub frame anyway but I just wanted to check will it all bolt straight on to my 1.8d chassis? If I get the frame, the arb and the bottoms arms all included as I've seen one on eBay going for 75 pound I think.

Many thanks

Chris

You'll need GTi type shocks too as base model ones don't have the tabs on that the droplinks attach to.

So I cannot use my shocks and springs and drop links with the gti subframe and anti roll bar and wishs bones? Just want to check as I've never changed a subs frame before. How difficult of a task is it and any advice on tackling it? I'm fairly competent as did the engine swap myself.

Many thanks

Chris

do you have a Turbo with droplinks? if so then the gti stiff will be nigh on identical and much easier to swap than the straight Diesel base model TCA setup.

It is a base 205 junior with a 306 xud engine in it but there are drop links going to the suspension struts

If there is an ARB on the other end of the droplinks then it sounds like you have a GTI subframe already.
