GSF, Euro-car parts, carparts4less all seem to be out of stock (of any decent make at least) of XU9J4 cambelt kits & water pumps.

However after some googling I've come across Mister-auto.

Their web reviews are a bit naff, but prices seem good and all top brand parts are in stock.

Anyone had any experience, or any other suppliers people would suggest instead?

Mister-auto is fine. Ordered Lemforder, SKF, Walker bits off them no problem...

what would you call decent brand?

Dayco, Gates, SKF, Conti-tech etc.

Basically one I have heard of.

I'm sure many are fine, and probably lots of them produced in the same factory and re-branded. But as it's my toy car engine I'd like to get a recognised, as so hopefully quality, parts on there.

Noted Alan. Sounds worth a go then.

Hum.

Can you post a link to what you're looking at Mei?

I've just re-checked and against Citroen/bx/1.9/16v they show belts and tensioners available but no kits - which is what I'm after really.

But could be user error on my part.

0831 s4 is the kit part number, shown on servicebox.

GSF don't show a kit though, I would call or pop into your local branch and ask, or even email them, they are very helpful though sometimes takes a day for a response.

I've had some BMW stuff recently that they don't list on the website posted to me FOC direct from a supplier.

0816 40 is the belt, 0829 20 are the pulleys.

Cheers Mei.

I'll ask and see what I can from them and how much.

Must admit though that mister-auto prices seem keen to me.

VTB 645 is the motaquip kit but its not a stocked item any more.

A dealer kit being comparable to the above then - it doesn't contain the water pump or any other gaskets/seals/parts?

If so Mister-auto is looking pretty good.

Think I'd go for the SKF water pump though as never heard of 'Bolk' and a google of them didn't reveal too much.

Cant really go wrong with SKF. The prices from mister-auto are pretty good for good parts.

Gates make good belts, when my cam seized, instead of snapping the belt or shredding the teeth off it broke the woodruff key part in the cam pulley

I have some Pug kits and they come as a Gates kit anyway.

Have you tried East Grinsteads branch of CPA (car parts and accessories)? They're Gates stockists.

I bought a new Citroen 0831s4 kit last year and the belt was Dayco. The trade price from a dealer is about £85 if you can sweet talk them.

I've got 3 CPA's within 20 minutes of me so I'll give them a call and ask. They're always pretty good actually.

I'm at a citroen stealer on Monday getting some warranty issues sorted on my daily, so maybe a good time to ask for a discount (if they think it'll sweaten me up!).

Cheers all.

I'll report back what I do anyway, just for peoples future info.

Just an update to end the storey for those that make search in future:

I ordered the following from mister uto:

Contiech timing belt kit

Valeo water pump

And a man oil filter

They had 30% (or something) off the contiech kit (which btw comes with INA tensioners), and also an additional 10% off EVERYTHING if you bought an oil filter.

And free delivery.

So the whole lot cost me £91.58 delivered.

It arrived in 4 working days.

Very happy. Well packaged. Good prices.

The end.
