Mi16 Rear Water Housing.

Recommended Posts

Hello, just bought a cast rear water housing for my alloy blocked mi16. Currently I have a plastic one on the car bit I'm needing one with a 3 output and one bigger outlet type. Can't remember why I need this many outputs but the plastic one I used I took the blank out and connected it to a hose. (Not ideal as not raised lip hence the new one needed) . The car water system worked sweet but the only one I could fine was a cast one. Are their different size ones ? I'm sure the one I have bought requires a paper gasket between the block and housing. Anybody using the cast type ones on there engines. They must be better than the plastic ones.

This is the piccy of the type I've got...

The MI needs three outlets in a 205 due to the water bypass across the back of the block, as well as the heater and expansion tank feed, iirc the alloy casting is an early and plastic was used on later engines, and I believe the size of the bottom hose changed at the same time.

I have done excactly the same with a cast one when my plastic had a bad crack. No paper gasket.Just a good gasket sealant. No leakage.Everything works fine for months.

Did you have to change the bottom hose as welshpug says they are larger in diameter compared to the plastic one.

As my hoses are a mix of silicone and oem,i really cant remember how excactly i fitted them but yes i had to make a small change. No big issue though.

Miles

Use the normal 8v one and blank off the bypass as it's not needed, Less joins and pipes so less chance of a leak and tidies up the engine bay
