Ckeck out the under arch photo of my 205 automatic in my vehicles, this is the original factory finish. I have painted the strut and coil spring but only cleaned the rest. I am working away from home just now but will post a floorpan photo when I get home. The underside is original.

Not sure about 205gti, but sales brochures for 309gtis (14 page iirc) had good quality pics

Far too much gold on show there imo, i dont think peugeot used that much yellow zinc, grey maybe.

I agree, it looks fantastic but I'm not sure it would have been as bling as that. The brake lines were copper also. Nice job though ;)

Brake lines where originally steel, not painted wheel silver like they look like. But a lovely looking car all the same. A lot of care and detail has gone into that car. Just a bit too much bling for my liking with the inlet manifold. Personal opinion though.

Oigen,

Great pics and a fabulous job, if mine ends up any where near that I'll be well pleased

Sort of related question here. Some beams are yellow but replacements from Peugeot are black. Was it a case of GTi's had yellow ones and bog standard cars got black or was there a change over year?

Afaik, all base model tubes aswell as being slimmer in the middle, were black (similar to what you have recently purchased off eBay)

In my experience, 205gti versions seemed to be the mustard yellow colour, and fatter in the middle of the crosstube

All new crosstubes from main dealer come in black.

Where the excessive gold/zinc, they where like that bar the sump

Slam panel color was on the age of the car, all middle years where Primer color, Ph1 and late Ph2 where black

Does anybody know what colour HT leads 205 GTIs had fitted when they were new? I always assumed they were black but I saw this 1990 advert recently that has red leads.

Me neither until I saw it on ebay recently. I don't know which agency Peugeot were using back then but they seem to have been consistently good, unlike whoever they use these days.
