Vss Sensor - Cheapo Ebay Vs. Genuine

Recommended Posts

Stu

Hi all,

After some feedback from people who may have run both, or at least experienced one or the other.

Are the cheapo VSS sensors ok, or is the consensus to use genuine ones?

Depends how cheap, search carefully and you will often find o.e.m at reasonable prices on ebay, or even direct from sellers, like neat autos.

I've got one of those el cheapo ones and it appears to work OK, although it's only covered a few miles so can't comment on longeivity.

Personally, if you can find an OE type one for sensible price I would go for that, but at the time I couldn't.

I think george got one of those, rather shonky looking but its still working, i think the o.e.m sagem or valeo units usually come in at about £22

Thanks all, i remember somebody saying the cheapo ones effected the running and that 'someone' had seen a marked improvement in low RPM running with a genuine one...

So, the next natural question, anyone got a genuine one for sale?!

I ran a cheapo one from ebay for a year, the car then became very jumpy round town when it failed.

I have had a genuine one in for about 5 months with no problems.
