Phase 2, 1993 Sunroof Vacuum Release Handle - Black Or Grey?

I wonder if someone can help - I have a 1993 Phase 2 which has a grey sunroof vacuum release handle. All other interior fittings are black.

 

The previous owner who had it for 17 years said he'd never replaced the handle - it was always grey. I wonder if someone knows whether this is unusual or just how they were. Unlikely the handle was replaced in its first three years of being new...

 

Does anybody know the answer as to whether this should be black or grey from factory?

It should be black AFAIK, but I have also seen grey ones on late cars - indeed, I'm sure one of my two cars had a grey one that I swapped to black.

Cheers Anthony! So, to swap or not to swap - I have found a black one - I want to make it factory original.... I'm going to need a bigger sample... any more advances?

Hmmm three - looking pretty certain... better get the cheque book and screwdriver out...

 

Anybody want a really good grey one I could have one going spare soon....

Technically they weren't black, just a VERY dark grey
