Values - Controversial

Recommended Posts

roccorich

Seems I have now own two cars with prices doing similar things.

When I bought my MK2 Scirocco 5 years ago you could pick them up with tax and test for £500 easy now its at least a grand and theres plenty going for a lot more.

Tough if you want one but I see it as a positive as it means parts will start to be reproduced that have been unavailable for years and I will hopefully never lose money on my cars.

I'm always amazed at how many people seem to be getting parts made on here aswell as the few companies like BBM that make stuff and sell it at what I see as a pretty reasonable price.

The car will be collected tomorrow (15/05/2014) to be taken to Copart for auction. It would make an ideal reshell project for someone at the right price.

The car had covered just 32,106 miles.

Did me proud at the Nurburgring last year

Oh and insurance paid out £9,000.

It took 8 weeks to achieve that figure, lots of hard work to prove market value to get the payout up from a few hundred.

Well done to you for fighting for the result you wanted.

Hard to tell from the pictures, but that looks repairable to me. Did the accident crease either of the rear quarter panels or the boot floor? Tailgate looks to have taken most of it, probably wants a rear panel too but that is do-able.

Wow, well done for achieving this figure, I guess you must be well pleased with the result.

I guess the roof/rear quarter panels are bent?

What a shame! Looked like a very clean example.

Yeah it was noticed earlier when it sprang up on eBay a month or so ago:

Bit more on these 2 threads:

but essentially it's been repaired (possibly not very well / professionally) and is currently in the hands of a trader that is a bit suspect based on posts on one of the threads above:

I'm just wandering if the gap has been bridged somewhat between 1.6 & 1.9 prices recently. A very nice looking sub 70k 1.6 just sold on ebay for £3100. I know there are lots of 1.9's out there priced much higher, and 1.6's, but they never seem to sell.

I saw on pscuk's Facebook page earlier that auto express have just voted the 205 gti as the number one buy for a classic car investment (though I can't find it online yet). Maybe prices are set to rise again......
