Hubs Were They Painted Originally

hi i have spent many hours removing rust from my front hubs, now they are clean i want to paint them to stop them going rusty in the future. When the car was new was the hubs painted? im guessing not due to how rusty they were, i want to keep them looking standard but dont want them to go rusty, if they were painted what color was they if they wasn't im thinking hammerite silver, any thoughts please?

I'd go gloss black personally, its what I'm planning to paint mine when I get round to it.

Almost certainly not. Maybe a thin plating, but probably just "raw casting", like the unmachined bits of brake discs.

in that case then i'm gonna use silver hammerite to keep it looking kinda how it used too, without them going rusty.

I bet they were painted in the same stuff as the trailing arms.
