On the way to work today when the gear stick went floppy and could only select 3rd & 4th , on closer inspection I found that the selector arm was moving independently from the shaftimage-25.jpg , the only ones I've found after a quick search have splines but this one hasn't !!!
Does anyone have a spare or know where I can get one from sharpish as it's booked for the mot Fridayimage-24.jpgimage-26.jpg

It's a diesel box with reverse behind 5th , the arm and retainer are galv and not many folk touch it apart from engineering firms

its not galv, its yellow zinc passivated, all you need to do is grind it off and it'll weld just fine, tell them to MTFU!

the arm should be flat not curved, IIRC it's 90 or 10mm centre to centre, if what you have was in a 205 it wasn't the right one.

Thanks any idea what the box would have been fitted to originally as I bought it as a 205 box off a turbo track car ? Looking at pics on google it's the same arm as fitted to the gti-6

probably a diesel 306, zx, xsara, 406 etc, not that it matters, as you need a 205 arm, or fix and modify yours.

spot on :)

whilst you're at it, get it flattened and the ball joint welded at 90mm from the centre of the shaft.
