Xsara Box And Hubs What Shafts

Recommended Posts

shooter mcgavin

Need to order up some new shafts for my project this week but can remember what I used last time.

I'm running gti6 hubs and a phase 2 xsara box. I think I remember having to mix and match cv's and shafts last time but is was about 7 years ago since I done this.

Fit 205 1.9 gti shafts or 309 gti items depending on your wishbones. Change the xsara diff for a 205 be diff to remove the need to cock aboit with cvs

I have 309 wishbones, so just use 309 shafts but swap the xsara diff for the 309 one?

No sure what's involved swapping the diffs, no something I've ever removed

Remove speedo drive housing, remove diff cover, remove diff, remove crownwheel, fit crown wheel to 205 (or 309) diff using new bolts, refit diff, use wellseal on the metal mating surfaces of the diff housing and cover, torque up the bolts.

But in a nutshell the problem is with the xsara diff not accepting the whole cv from the 'linger' / old style shaft as fitted to 205's and 309's

Why are you using 306 hubs?

My heads completely up my ass!

I'm not using 306 hubs at all.

I'm sure I just used the xsara inner cv on the 1.9 shaft the last time, that sound right?

even if youre using 306 hubs thats fine. theyre same spline, different camber.

not really :P

Use an adjustable top mount and I am sure you'll get more camber than they lose.

Does anybody actually know the difference?

Do they have a different camber?

As far as I am concerned its just a forum myth at the moment!

I put 306 hubs on a mates 205 a while ago that has 309 wishbones and eccentric top mounts set to max negative camber and with the hubs fitted the wheels looked like they had zero camber!
