Standard Springs

I'm tyring to swap my STDT( +40mm lol) springs for something lower. Having read about the 205 gti or 309 gti springs seem the right choice. I can not find a pair for love nor money locally (well..i can order some in for 40 quid a side).

 

I just phoned the scrappy and they say they have two complete front legs with springs off a automatic and I can have them for 40 quid the pair.

 

Now....I guess what I want to know is, has any one experience with the auto springs? Are they the same as a gti spring or would they be base model springs? I am guessing that either way they would be shorter than my STDT spring as last time they came off they did NOT want to go back on without being compressed so it looked similar to a slinky lol.

 

I'm not bothered about the actual strut / leg, i'm using gaz at the moment. Just dont want to waste what little money I have buying something useless

I suspect that auto springs will sit somewhere between diesel and GTi ones height wise, and likely softer than GTi too.

 

If you're happy with used springs (which I'm guessing you are from the scrappy comment) then I've got a pair of standard 1.9 GTi front springs here that you can have for say £20 posted.
