Hi everyone.

just wondering what the best way would be to clean my alternator as a part of the restoration. its covered in oil from an oil burst at some point.

thinking I could steam clean it but would this damage it at all. any tips.?

Doubt it, I jetwashed mine many times, but make sure you take it for a run to dry it out before you leave it to sit, there's bearings in there after all.

Ok cheers. Cant run it at the moment tho as its being restored. I will place it infront of the space heater for a while. Thanks.

I'd be more inclined to degrease it, then put a copper/wire brush head on a drill and give it a once over, then either WD40 it or VHT lacquer it.
