Sorted my loose feeling gearstick, fitted new gear change rods, the TU L linkage pivot bush kit and a couple of bronze shifter bushes, worked a treat, nice and snappy now!  quick video attached.

Taken my 1.9 gti driveshafts apart , there are 99 needle roller bearings on each one and once you take the joint apart there is nothing holding them in anymore and after a lot of searching I found them all , on the floor , in the bin ,on the bench ,in the cv boot lol

Today i mainly swore at the car as, a month before the MOT is due, it's decided to seize the passenger side door in the permanently locked position.  Motor still working as the button goes up a few mm then re-engages down to locked, can't lift the button inside the car to unlock it, and the key wont turn more than a few degrees in either direction if you try to free it manually via the key (resulting in the metal around the lock starting to flex).  The list of niggles is beginning to grow again (hasn't been that way for a while). Bloody car lol.

Only bonus being the insurance renewal coming through at only £10 more than last year, and that's with an increase in value of the car from the previous policy.

Fitted a linear actuator to my accusump valve… because why not!

Also a damn site cheaper than the cable operated remote valve kit from canton.

You'll never free it by forcing the key,  it'll be the pivot on the inside of the outer handle seizing up.

After disappointed with the cracked cylinder head, I found a one.
We will be on the road again soon.
I applied the degree method. I used the torque wrench to see the values.
60Nm first

slacken

20Nm then

The plan was 90+90+90 degree.
at the second 90 degree torque values beyond 110 Nm which is wrench capacity.
It was really hard to complete second 90.
I tried another 30 degree instead of last 90.
I tried extremely hard put all my power for the last 30. Only the number 9 bolt refused to turn last 30.

Took it past 125k on Friday - the reward for that was the interior fan blower starting to play up and turn itself on / off whenever it likes before eventually settling on.  I'm guessing a combo of the fan itself and maybe the resistor too as the fan speed it settles on is the same regardless of where the control knob is positioned.  Already have a decent working fan in spares and bought a new resistor from a seller in France which turned up in 2 days - quicker than it takes some of the UK based retailers to post / deliver.

Starter click is also back so i think i'm probably going to finally bite the bullet and get the engine bay loom checked over / refurbed as no doubt there's probably some minor wiring damage hidden somewhere between the ignition and starter.  Plus the car's been running fine since i put the brand new tachy fuel relay in last year.  Add that to the list of getting the car undersealed properly at some point this yearand also treat / paint the passenger wing area under the bonnet as that's starting to get some surface rust setting in which isn't ideal as it's on the earth point around my Morette's.

Nice weather gave me the opportunity to have a clean around in the engine bay and remove quite a few years worth of grime from under the bonnet, etc.  Came up pretty good considering but probably needs another going over to get it nicer.

Ordered a new starter motor as part of the plans to overhaul the remaining bits on the starting / ignition side of things.  Hopefully that will turn up by the end of the week.

Telf

i took mine out for the first time in ages. Its been sat looking sorry for itself on the drive for months.

Drove to the coast in the sun and had a few waves as people overtook. A guy in a McLaren decided he needed to show me his car was quicker than my 205. Made me smile.
