junked the standard 205 shuntbox in favour of a mk4 golf one that mounts on top of the battery or maybe in the space left by the washer bottle

Tell us more about it, please (a photo paints a thousand words ;)).

Halfrauds used to sell fake "alarm key holes", along with the little window stickers...

Ah, interesting! Any idea if they were just a stick on thing (i.e. purely a visual deterrent)? Or if they needed a hole cut out to be fixed in place? I've never checked mine thoroughly but for some reason I'm sure it's fitted in to the panel and will leave a hole behind when removed.

The fakes were, yep. Just a double-sided stickypad on the back of a chromed plastic "lock"... Wouldn't have fooled your average XR3-nicking chav for a second, but you can bet they sold well to paranoid Maestro drivers... (and they must've worked, since none of those Maestros ever got nicked...)

The real ones were definitely drilled through the panel, though. 'course, a real one may well have been fitted without being wired up...

Spent most of the time searching for the engine mount anti bang spring, never did find it.

It's the piece of thin metal that goes between the R/H engine mount and the ally arm.

Well first of all I fixed it (as a daily ritual).

Then I washed it properly and polished it. those who know me will know this is rare.

I then drove the bastard, and it decided not to break. Moral victory!

Still hasnt got a dashboard though has it!

Changed the timing belt and water pump on the silver puglet yesterday, also tidied the engine loom, fixed the seized gear quadrant, clipped the front lighting loom on, fitted the horn and towing eye.

Today, finished adamB's brake lines, made and welded in the brackets for the hydraulic handbrake, made and welded in brackets for the zx single wiper (306 with cage, strut top bracing in the way!)

Helped fit the lexan rear screen, swap front spring from some seriously rusty kw 320 lb-in springs to some ast 280lb.

This weekend I finished the horrible job of getting a proper air filter setup on mine. Space is limited between the trumpet on Cylinder 4 and the brake servo and so there is a bit of contact with the foam on the filter and the servo, but not much. Still not totally happy with it, but at least it's now on!

The filter -> servo rubbage! My new servo should hopefully cure this (If its shallower than this one!)IMAG0315_zpsfa1a556d.jpg
