Ecu And Loom From Two Different Cars

Recommended Posts

dobboy

Sorry to be a complete pain, but i have another TQ for someone.

To cut a long story short, I have an unknown age GTI6 engine that came with the loom (which was b%^sterdised) and the ECU.

I then purchased a complete un-altered loom from another GTI6 of unknown age, which i intend to use.

Is there any potential banana skins for my conversion?

i.e. was there any variation on Pin inputs/outputs on the GTI6 ECU's of different age?

(and i potentially could have an ECU for one variation and a loom for another)

Thanks in advance

So long as neither is a multiplex ECU and loom from a Phase 2 Xsara VTS they'll be fine for the conversion. Easy way to spot these is that the ECU has three smaller plugs, whereas non-multiplex (what you want) has one large plug.

306 and Xsara looms are wired slightly differently but the conversion principle is the same.

All the non-multiplex (all 306 and Phase 1 Xsara VTS) ECU's are fine for use on 205 conversions providing that they were "unlocked" prior to being removed from the donor car.

Thanks Anthony, both my parts look compatible with each other.

Cheers

only thing you may find is some components used different plugs, like the map sensor, replacing said component for one compatible with the plug would solve that.
