Relocating Pas Pump & Lowering Radiator

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if it's possible to relocate the pas pump on a gti6 engine to the bottom (where the a/c compressor originally went) as well as lowering the radiator using one of Tom Fenton's lowering bracket's? I'm pretty sure the pump won't fit with this method...?

If not, will the pump fit if I were to just lower the rad "straight" down i.e. not shift the bottom of the rad back towards the engine. Anyone done this sucessfully?

Lynx / Rich_W do a PAS relocation kit to mount the pump on the sump where the AC pump was originally.

No idea on whether the PAS pump will fit in the original location with one of Tom's brackets, but I can't immediately see why it wouldn't - it's the relocated pump I can see having more fitment issues as you'll be moving the lower radiator mounting closer to the sump.

Yeah, I'm aware of the relocating bracket available.

And I meant would the rad fit, using Tom's method, WITH a relocated pas pump. I don't think it will - ?

If this is the case, will the relocated pas pump still fit, if I were to lower the rad "straight" down i.e. not using Tom's bracket which obviously brings the rad back towards the sump/relocated pas pump - ?

The easiest thing may be just to use a 106/saxo electric pump instead and then be able to use one of Tom's lowering brackets...

What's the reason for dropping the rad? I'm also interested to know the answer to your question but hopefully some of the TB or SC boys will be able to confirm...

No idea on fitting, but with the rad in the normal plain you will have loads of room

Throttle bodies...

Miles - do you mean loads of room if rad's just lowered from its normal position (and not shifted "back" towards sump)?

Don't move towards the sump, I'd just chop the lower panel out and make a proper frame for it all
