My Shell, Scrap Or Sell

Recommended Posts

Spiky

As some will know I'm breaking my car, but is the shell worth anything to anyone, or shall I just get all the bits off and scrap it,

It's quiet a solid shell but, if you've seen my build thread I've cut holes and put new tunnel in and all sorts

Its gotta be worth more to someone as a shell rather than scrap value.

When I broke one of my 205's I ended up scraping it as it was too far gone with rust but if it's relatively clean someone would surely find a use for it.

I have broke up some solid 205's over the years and I was gutted to put them in the bin but no one wanted them, if I had the room I would of kept them as look at the price of a mk 1 or 2 escort shell these days. I am lucky now I brought a house with a big yard and garages so I have got the space and I have got a mint non sunroof shell waiting to be built into something special.

I saw a white shell in Plymouth on a flatbed that looked like it was heading to the local breakers :/ it's a shame that these tidy shells are getting crushed...

My view is you need to just put a For Sale topic up (for the shell only, separate to your existing topic), set yourself a deadline for when you need rid of it buy and just see what becomes of it.

Sadly all I think you'll achieve from this topic is the usual hot air about how it'd be a shame to scrap it, and surely someone will take it off you, blah blah blah. That's all true, but for all the hot air how often does it translate in to positive action? We're not all in a position to keep a spare shell on our property for 6 days/6 weeks/6 years on the off chance that somebody local might want it, and because it'd be shame to scrap it.

At the end of the day people, if you want to save these cars, be proactive and get in touch with sellers like Spiky when the shells come up for sale and help save another 205.
