Enclosed Vs Cone Air Filters

Recommended Posts

Now that is exactly the sort of thing I was looking at doing. Mount a Box like that then route a cold air feed any where i like without the issue of having a big cone on the end.

The cold feed went below the bumper. It worked very well. I always intended to take temperature readings in different places - in situ & on the move. But I didn't get around to it.

Well, that was on my 1.9 turbo, which ran 1.1 bar of boost. So that will cover most N/A applications.

Ali, those CDAs are the real deal, Pretty sure they make them rated high enough for your V6 (expect it to be pretty large though). I think the CDA came from proper motorsport applications, but then spawned the likes of the overpriced Pipercross Viper, and the cheap CDA knock offs. £50 for something that looks like a CDA, you just know it's going to be more restrictive than an OE filter, but the kids love 'em as they're carbun innit  Whereas the proper BMC CDAs like in Kyri's pic aren't cheap (or they certainly weren't "back in the day").

Can't recall what I paid for it, but it was bloody pricey.

How do, GL?

Alright sausage. What brings you back to these parts? Missing us, or missing 205s?

I posted something in the Track Day section & thought I'd have a nose around. Not much has changed!

Where did you put in inlet; i'm looking for a place were it will not suck water, debris or hot air, but it's hard to find a place if you've in intercooler.

Alright ladies, keep the small talk to the water cooler :P

Cheers for the info GLP, I had seen the cheaper one, these motors like a lot of cool air so it would be a false economy I think. Keep and eye out for a 2nd hand one maybe or just go balls out and spend £200 on a air filter + hoses + jubiless!

Or make the original air box fit.

It was behind the driving lamp area. It was close to the bottom of the valance, but never gave me any issue with water take up.
