Central Locking Issue

Recommended Posts

kachel

Hi all,

My central locking isn't working so started to look at the central locking motor in the left door first.(LHD car)

There are two plugs, one dark which fit in the locking motor and one light plug which does not fit in the central locking motor.(see attached picture)

Is this type central locking motor not the right type for my 1986 GTI?

Who will help me out?

*edit* the picture upload seems not to work, is this normal?

I figured out that the central locking motor in the drivers door was a wrong one. Now i have fitted a correct one (with two connections).

But it is still not working, i checked the fuse.

Is there a central module which i should check, or is there a simple way to check the central lock motor in the door?

I have a phase 1 from 1986.

I think phase 1 cars should have the central locking control box in one of the doors. It's in the right side door on UK cars, and I don't know if that's the same for LHD cars or not.

My phase 1.5 1.9 has it near the ecu, nothing but the solenoid in the door iirc.

Yes, de central locking control is in the drivers door. This is the grey box with two plugs in it, correct?

I checked if there is a constant voltage on one of the plugs for the central locking control from the loom in de drivers door as i assume that there should be a constant voltage on one of the plugs. But there isn't.

Could this be the trouble?

Thanks for helping me out!

I followed the wire loom from the door under the dashboard. The loom ends in two connectors, one with three wires and one with four wires.

The one with three wires has two blue wires with voltage, these are for the electrical windows.

The one with four wires has no voltage at all. Is this the connector for the central door locking wires? If so, where could the problem be at? (i checked the fuses under the dashboard.)

Please help.

Who can tell me which color wire should have constant voltage on the central locking module in the drivers door?
