Tool Chests; What Would You Recommend?

But as welshpug says mosts professional techs have snap on boxes, as do i, but mostly because snap on is convenient as they come round everyweek, offering a 'quality service' ive been involved with 3 of them and never had a quality service

I was was pretty happy with the clarke HD stuff in hindsight, and very impressed with their Clarke HD Industrial stuff, especially with it being near identical to sealeys box which had a £500 price difference!

Which every way I dress it up, I can't afford snap on, or anything north of £500 really, thats pushing it. going to see whats in the new sealey promotions as the local parts place are really nice and we are good friends with them. If nothing comes of that, think ill be getting a clarke HD industrial.

The only thing I'm not sure about is US PRO Tools offer a 10 year guarantee with their chests. and that is a REALLY big thing. anyone (apart from Welshpug's already mentioned point) got any experience with them? have read good things about them

The end one is MAC tools and is one of the best boxes I've owned. The smaller one I can't remember but been with me years. The bench and wall units are Clarke but would not recommend as they are not that good. I have beefed them up and made them good along with bolting to the wall.

I've had quite a few Snap-On over the years but to be fair too much money and the MAC is just as good.

Looks like a sweet workshop you have there

Plenty of space too , I got rid of a load of spares out of mine , found it a lot better to work on the cars and less stressful too

Cheers Spencer, yeah, was a priority to get garage built before the house extension, I try to keep it tidy, got a couple of pugs in there at mo but ideally one works well as you have loads of space round it. I think I deserve a warm dry garage at the age I am now, I did the working on cars out on the drive from aged 10 in the snow with a household lamp, gearbox on chest.... under MK 1 escorts, mini's, Imps, Lotuses etc.. saying that I still do some stuff on the drive..ha ha somethings never change :)

FACOM Chrono-series?

Decent Quality. Besides, being French, it would fit the Peugeot-theme.

Like the idea of facom. just too much sadly.

Decided on a Sealey Superline Pro Heavy Duty (same as clarke HD Industrial) as i was offered a good price and its through the people I like doing business through. So all in all I'm a happy choppy. Photo of 'my first man cave' to follow.

Sounds good, don't think you'll go far wrong with that. Glad you're sorting your man cave, probably one of the most important things you can do.... :D

Biggest problems with snap on tools is they are highly overpriced and you Have to deal with a snap on dealer. Which are as reliable and helpful as a used car salesman, once he has your money he could not give two f*cks. I have an ever growing pile of broken snap on tools but because I don't owe him any money he isn't interested in dropping into the garage to fix them. Never met a decent snap on dealer. Sonic or mac for me

went to pick up the tool chests today, had massive dents in them :( apparently the chap wasn't too careful getting it off the van :( New one coming thursday. Very excited as the boxes looked great (other than the dents :( )

Metal sides and top are strong, no flexing, drawers are smooth and feel strong. Really happy!

Have a Kennedy one in work and at home myself, can't fault it. Bit pricey though. As for snap on tools, don't know what prices are like now but i have some snap on stuff i got from my uncle, which he purchased in 1970 when he worked in the aircraft industry in the states. Still going stong i must say.
