I don't get it either. 160-200hp and no torque isn't going to make a car quick.

dunno where you got 160-200 from, they're 130 bhp stock, they do have 80 lbft, and will weigh a LOT less than a pug engine and box, and its a sequential box.

I was more on about bike engines in general. 160-200 on R6/R1 engines.

Better off with a tuned XU in a 205, however I see the point of it in a mini as its a different league to an A series.

Get the car weight right and a BEC is seriously quick. The small and light engine and box allows you to get a more optimal balance on the car. Look at Wayne schofield's old cappuccino with only 180bhp. Cleaned up the euro saloons race series

not sure what that particular engine weighs, but the whole bike is only 220 kilos, so it can't be much...

65kg or thereabouts complete. If you think a 1.0 205 is around 750kg standard I think it would be quite hard to make a track car 800kg or more

you obviously never saw steve olearys mid engined bike powered 205 rally car then [youtube corinium stages ] that thing was a top 5 finishing car beating 2 litre escorts with WAY more power till the msa banned it !
