No Ecu Pin 19! Also No Fuel Relay!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Just few questions!

First time i checked my 2row ecu (139).The pin no.19 is empty and not grounded as it supposed.But then at one only topic i read the opposite than usual..i mean it can be empty.so what is right?

Also i realised today that the fuel relay although it has power has nothing to do with the pump! it works without it, so i guess the engineer who made the conversion was lazy..(speaking politely).Of course itsnt grounded through no.20 pin.It has ignition live,permanet ground as the pump directly.My question is: except the matter of safety should i bother to fix it or not? the engine runs fine about a year.the only problem i have is consumption! about 20mpg!! but can it be related to relay? i doubt.

ps. temp sensor,afm,icv,coil,amp have been swapped a couple of times with no difference.i am running catcams first stage inlet cam and peter's chip.

Just to add..normal city driving rarely revving above 3.5-4k..and injectors cleaned with good fuel pressure.

According to CAPS (an essential program if you want to diagnose and sort out mi16 2 row problems) only the Citroen BX ecu's use pin 19 as an earth, the Peugeot 405/309 one's use pins 5 and 16. Mine is a BX 139 ecu so use's all three 5, 16 and 19. I highly recommend getting CAPS, you can find a download link in this topic;

A bypassed fuel pump relay would not effect your fuel consumption either since the fuel pressure regulator dictates the rail pressure, have you checked your fuel pressure at the rail? If an incorrect/faulty regulator is fitted then that could cause increased mpg or perhaps you have incorrect injectors. As you say the only issue with regard to bypassing the relay is safety in the event of an accident, only you can decide if that is a problem for you but i'd want it to be wired up as per standard.

Hello Sam! thanks for your response!

Yes i know CAPS but as i run win7 i need an emulator.So till now i prefer searching the forum.This make sense about 405,Bx ground differences.Then no need to worry about:)

My regulator is about 3.0 bars and the injectors are the right ones for sure.So much fuel kills me.And it is a pity cuz it runs real well and strong.The only bad thing at my car is a downpipe without the splitter by a lazy exhaust guy too..i know it makes everything worse at low/mid range but i am not sure it has to do with the fuel matter..

Btw I would love to wire it in the right way and i am thinking of trying it by my self soon!:)

I also use windows 7 and to use CAPS i have to emulate XP with oraclebox virtual machine - works well.
