Brake Servo

Recommended Posts

Phil205

Help please.

My brake servo popped today. It is making a hissing noise. I need to source a replacement part, preferably new or reconditioned.

The care is a 1988 1.6 XU5JA.

Can anyone please advise where I can source a replacement part please.

All help welcome !!

Either a pug dealer, a motorfactor, citroen dealer, or breakers.

Not unique in any way to the 1.6 gti.

Got a spare here if you need.

Hi,

The garage were unable to source one.

I tried Peugeot and drew a blank.

I might take you up on your kind offer.

It may be a Bendix 225mm / 42mm ?

Does anyone know the manufacturer and part number ?

Pretty much any servo from any 205 will fit fine. Base model, gti diesel doesn't matter.

Thankyou.

A web link to buy one in the UK would be great.

I think the one on that web site was for cars with ABS, so that wasn't the right part.

The garage told me that I have the Bendix 225 mm brake servo fitted, with a Bendix master cylinder.

I just remeasured mine and it does look like the outer diameter might be 225 mm.

never needed to measure any, but a RHD injected car would have a 200mm unit which is pretty tight up against the scuttle panel, I will check the diameter of the spare I have.

Doesn't matter what brand the MC is, only the bore.

I went into my local dealership, the system seems to imply that for a 1988 XU5J engine, the replacement brake servo part to match a Bendix Master Cylinder would be a - Bendix Diam 200 - 4535 F0.

There is also part for an ABS system Bendix Diam 225 - 4533 77, but my car doesn't have ABS.

What is confusing me is that the part fitted to my car measures approx 225 mm diameter, yet the above part number implies a "Diam 200" should be fitted.

I obviously don't want to get a part, then find it is the wrong one.

Can anyone help me please.

sounds like you are measuring it wrong, 200mm is the diameter of the mechanism, NOT the total diameter of the unit.

as the dealer said, and I have posted several times, RHD cars used 200mm MAX, even ABS cars.

I have one in my hand, its from a 309 Goodwood, they only used 200mm units, its over 200mm in outer diameter but not quite 225mm, same part number as a 205, 4535 F0.
