Keep Blowing Headlight Bulbs

That's probably about the sixth bulb ive blown this year.

Seems a lot to me, could this be a sign of something sinister?

Have you got a meter, check resistance of the earth connection back to the main battery negative terminal, should be very low e.g. below 1 ohm.

Is everything tightly mounted? If the bulbs are a bit loose in the headlight or the headlight itself is loose in the car the filament can be damaged by vibration. Check the voltage with the engine running too, if the voltage regulator in the alternator is faulty an excessively high voltage might blow bulbs.

I'll get the meter out when I catch a day off over Xmas. I did wonder about vibration as my car is very stiff by most road car standards.

In the mean time, Ive bought a pack of 10bulbs :P
