Carb To Injected Xs

Recommended Posts

Graz

Out of curiosity and more as an engineering project.

Would it be possible to convert an XS carbed into a fuel injected motor using GTi standard parts and an aftermarket ECU.

I guess the injectors might need to be adjusted perhaps rate and spray pattern to suit the 1.4 or perhaps buy injectors from a XT model.

The only reason for GTi components is the availability of parts compared to the XT parts.

Any thoughts?

Not really no. In a short answer you'd be better going for a 106/saxo engine, later 205s came with single point injection.

Yeah, like Allye infers they are just not compatible. The TU engines in the XS is completely different to the XU in the GTIs, with virtually no part interchangability. From memory the crank shaft sprocket might be the same...

fuel tank and pump would be needed, inlet wiring and ecu to suit. oh and a FPr.

Easier option would be to buy a donor car, and swap the lot (from a crash damaged maybe)

not at all, either will involve the same amount of work apart from the downpipe, they're a nice motor though rather heavy, you'd be better off with an XU9j4.
