Late Xsara Be4 And Mi16 Final Drive Interchangeability Query

I know the pinions are different across be3 and be4 gearboxes, but are all 4.4 final drives the same in terms of teeth on the crown wheel and end of pinion.

 

In a nutshell, will a crown wheel from a be4 xsara vts gearbox work with a be3 mi16 pinion?

probably will work, but its not advisable to mix them.

They should be kept as matched pairs really, I would check the pitch of the teeth first which I must admit i have never done

A friend successfully put a 4.43 crown wheel AND pinion into a GTi180 box if that helps.

yup, or specifically 4.428:1 62x14

You can swap any BE internal parts around pretty much as you like, there's just little difference's, The Later BE4's use a slightly longer pinion shaft and a different dia, But you could stick BE1 gears into a Be4 case
