1.6 Master Cylinder Not Able To Drive 307D Front Brakes?

Recommended Posts

PeterGriffin

As title gents,

apparently it's quite spongy - are the 1.6 and 1.9 master cylinders the same size? The 1.9 I'm taking it from had ABS, does that change the size of the cylinder?

Thanks folks

205 GTi MC's are all 20.6mm - it's just the number of outlets that differs.

A 205 GTi MC will be OK with 307 (and similar) calipers, but you'll have more pedal travel than you currently do. Early 406 non-ABS MC is the route most people go down, as that's 23mm and the same fitment as a 205 item

If the MC is old then I would personally replace it as a matter of course.
