Hi, i'm wondering if someone here can help?

I'm gathering the required bits for a GTI6 conversion, and reading all the conversion topics etc, but still not 100% decided to do it.

Anyway, on the electrics side of it, i want to at least know if i could wire up a little bit of a loom, for conveiniance during the swap, and also to enable a tidy installation.

It also helps me out should i ever want to revert back to original.

So, my questions.

On the GTI6 engine loom the main work is on the big round plug, and on the 205GTI the two brown sets of plugs.

Q1. What does the big round plug on the GTI6 engine loom plug into on the GTI6 car?.... is it also a floating socket on the GTI6 main front car loom? or is it a fixed socket type thing somewhere? Do all 306 models have this same plug arrangement?

Q2. Do any other 205 models have the 2 sets of brown plugs that are found on the GTI?

Q3. Where do the rev counter adaptor kits usually get wired in on the loom? (from what i remember of 6 wires, 4 wires join the feeds to the coil packs.) Is the adapator wired in paralled, and can be pieced in anywhere on the GTI6 loom? Is the best place near the ECU/Batterybox? to enable all necessary wires to be picked up at one place?

Basically, i'm considering i could build a "plug-in" plug and play loom suitable to get from the GTI brown plug position in my 205, along the floor, and out to GTI6 round plug? (which i assume would normally sit in GTI6 engine bay/wouldn't be longe enough to get into 205 passengers footwell).

One end of my loom would plug into GTI6 engine loom round plug, other end plugging into 205 brown plugs..... it would be wired through say 20mm flexi conduit.... or even a 2.5mm multicore. Short the two GTI6 fuel inertia wires, and the electrical element of the conversion is more or less complete?

Thanks in advance.

1. socket fixed to the side of the front crossmember legs, part of the front car loom.

2. possibly other injection models.

3. I wire them next to the ecu, seeing as all the wires are there already and you wont need to hide long lengths of wire like you would if placed near the coils.

Thanks for the swift response Welshpug.

On Q1, do all 306's have these plugs?

Q2 - I know where a few basic 205's are in a scrappies and one diesel, I will get a look. I'm thinking all models would have them but maybe the number of wires used would change as well as function. Maybe even pug still do them if you knew the part number.

Q3. Spot on. Assuming you ECU is in battery box/engine bay, I take it that the you T off the coil pack wires, but cut GTI6 wire 426 at ECU, and send adaptor loom output to 205 wire 112B, via 426, to the end of where the round plug would be?

TIA

q1, yes they do, I think one or two wires varied, but easy enough to get around.

q2. I think pug still do them, there are some plugs of the same type near the fusebox on a different loom you could use.

q3. spot on, plus an earth.

Thanks a lot for your help...... the wiring aspect is appearing to be not too big a deal at all.

The wirings not too bad. Definitely get a cheapo multi meter to check continuity - check out my experiences in my build thread in my signature.
