DC2T 50 Posted December 11, 2013 I got my shell the other day so im gonna start looking at running gear, ive been out the game for too long and cant remember myself, but am i right in thinking that fitting 309 beam and wishbones will give the widest possible track? Does the subframe itself make any difference?
welshpug 1,646 Posted December 11, 2013 widest track using standard bits is a 1.6 205 running 309 wishbones and 1.9 wheels
DC2T 50 Posted December 11, 2013 Its a basemodel 1.1 ive got unfortunately
welshpug 1,646 Posted December 11, 2013 well you'll at least have a decent brake adaptability for any upgrades.
Daviewonder 533 3 Cars Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) As far as I know 309 beam with 306 arms is the widest you can get without spacers. Front I believe 309 wishbones and 1.6 gti hubs. Edited December 11, 2013 by Daviewonder
DC2T 50 Posted December 11, 2013 When you say the best standard upgrade, does that mean there are aftermarket options?
Roon 29 1 Cars Posted December 11, 2013 I have a fully rebuilt 309 rear beam with all new genuine pug parts sitting in my garage never even fitted if you do go for a wide track.
allye 530 3 Cars Posted December 11, 2013 If its a base model, then the widest you go is about 6J wheels on standard with bones and beam, that is it I'm afraid. Unless you want to give the arches some very serious chopping.
Tom Fenton 1,536 Posted December 11, 2013 As said, on a base model shell you will be very much restricted in track width/wheel tyre size by the arches, in particular at the rear.
DC2T 50 Posted December 11, 2013 Its got dimma arches on also
allye 530 3 Cars Posted December 12, 2013 Doesn't matter unless the actual metal has been heavily reworked underneath
DC2T 50 Posted December 12, 2013 Its certainly had some work done to the arches
Daviewonder 533 3 Cars Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) Its certainly had some work done to the arches Are you gonna finish them? That rust looks like its setting in nicely. Edited December 12, 2013 by Daviewonder
DC2T 50 Posted December 12, 2013 I ran my finger over it and its just surface rust over the weld. But yeh theyll get painted over etc and sorted
DC2T 50 Posted December 13, 2013 How hard would it be fitting a different cars subframe providing it can physically fit in the gap? The engine im installing is a b18c and have access to pretty much all the integras running gear
welshpug 1,646 Posted December 13, 2013 Easiest option is wide low offset wheels. Or some longer wishbones from colin satchell possibly.
DC2T 50 Posted December 13, 2013 Does he have a site or should i just google him?

johnnyboy666 195 1 Cars Posted December 13, 2013 are you intending to run standard wheels? If not there's plenty of scope for gaining a bit of girth that way. admittedly not everybody's preferred method, but possibly quite cost effective compared to a subframe swap (unless you a dab hand at fabricating of course)
DC2T 50 Posted December 13, 2013 Yeh i dont mind swapping wheels at all mate. My initial plan was to use my full integra running gear. Shocks, wishbones and subframe etc. and use my standard 15" integra wheels as i have them spare too. Then i thought for what benefit other than the track width would it be worth it, i could widen with peugeot parts and change the hub layout to fit the wheels to. Fabrication wise im an engineer by trade so making up new parts to fit isnt too much hassle for me, but again in terms of time and benefit it maybe easier building with whats available
Juttie205 123 2 Cars Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) I would cut them rear arches out and start again thats rough as hell i removed my dimma kit and mine are so much better than that yet im still re doing them. DC2T 50 Posted December 19, 2013 widest track using standard bits is a 1.6 205 running 309 wishbones and 1.9 wheels When you say running gear, is that the full subframe aswell as the hub etc?
