Remote Fob Help

So I bought a fob and reciever unit to use in my gti. Installed it and realised the fob isnt working. I checked the infra red with a camera and nothing was showing.

 

I have took the fob apart and identified the switch wasn't working so have removed it. I am pretty sure it is knackered! Anyway so now the switch is off I have tried to bridge the connections to mimik the switch. When I bridge one side the little LED lights up fine but nothing from the Infra red. Bridge the other side I get nothing from either the infra red or the little LED. Bridge both and I just get the little red LED again and nothing from the infra red.

 

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the way the switch is supposed to work on the PCB board as I am only guessing from the tracking on the board.

 

I know its a long shot but I thought its worth a go.

Just to update this. Was going nuts trying to work out why it wasn't working. Measured lots with a multimeter and thought the only explaination was that the Infra Red LED was broken too as it was not showing up on the phone camera.

 

Anyway thought better double check so tested it at the car and it works. Apparently not all infra red shows up on all phone cameras. Anywhoo I am happy as its is working just need to get a new switch.
