Vts Steering Rack. Boot Fitmemt

Recommended Posts

I've had the rack on for a while now. Is great. So to have power steer hooked up to.

Problem I have is the boot/grommet the fills the huge hole in the firewall the colum runs through.

The vts rack sits higher in the hole compared to the 205 item.

I've searched as much as I can and cannot seem to see what others have done here. I remember reading something somewhere about grinding out some of the rubber to fit in the hole.

I have both the Xsara boot and the 205 boot. The Xsara one is bigger and the flat section in a different place to the 205 one. Looking at both side by side, it looks like the Xsara one can be modified to fit the hole as its bigger to start with. The hole the colum runs through in the boot is closer to the outer edge of the boot which is what is needed as it comes through the firewall very close to the firewall hole.

Anyway, does this make sense?

Looking forward to responses as I'm sick of my shoes melting to my toes!

Anthony

I just used the original 205 grommit which fitted fine with no modifications. That's using the original 205 non-PAS UJ on the Xsara rack.
