Dimma Split Rims Tyre Profile?

Recommended Posts

symonpll

Hi can anybody help me?

i have a full set of 1.9 dimma split rims and the front profiles are 215/46/16 and the backs are 225/45/16. the problem is that they keep rubbing.

what is the correct profile of tyre i should be using?

The Dimma kit could be specified with 16' split-rim alloy wheels & matching 205-45-16 tyres, these wheels were 7.5 x 16 at the front & 8 x 16 at the back.

HTH.

Your tyres could be the wrong size.

Sounds about right but you could go down a size at either end to 205/45/16 on the front and 215/45/16 on the back.

About £95 each for 205/45/16 Eagle F1 GSD3

215s probably a touch dearer.

Oh those tyres sound a bit on the expensive side, perhaps you should get rid of the rims instead. I hear there is someone by the name of PacMan looking for a set in the Wanted section.... :o:(

Depends if you want a good make like C_W mentioned. You can get them for £59 but they are a low budget brand.

Are you running a full set on a wide arch 205 or 4 fronts on a standard body? Not that it matters,i'm just curious :o

I had 205/45/16 on all four rims.

Yeah, actually come to think of it, I don't think you can get tyres for those wheels anymore, something to do with the rim lip or something that prevent newer tyres fitting. So it might be easier if I take them off your hands. :o

aye it is the one i bought from Steano, but have spent over £600 already on it, the head blew.

i was driving through town and saw a dimma replica and the guy flagged me down. so i stopped and he asked what size of wheels i had. i told him 17s but i was looking for the split rims.

just turned out he had a set on his car, so within 1 hour we swapped and he was pleased as punch!!!!!!

i know ive not had it for long, but to be honest i cant really afford it. the insurance is tight and it's not really pratical for what im using it for. i would love to be able to keep her, but i need a car that will take me to uni as cheep as possible. it will be a sorry day to see her go!!!!!:P

205/40/16? Now those are expensive tyres!!! I believe only Dunlop make that size.

actually i stand corrected,

its 215/40/16 on rear and 205/45/16 fronts..

The fronts are budget Aurora or something as thats all they had in £90 each from memory.

Rears are Dunlop Sport.

The aurora are grippy.

Hello,

I havent been on here for ages and ages. had to re register.

The Dimma Turbo has been off the road since the snow in Feb as i pontificated and finally fitted a new sump gasket and boost gauges. The inlet manifold and sump were with a mechanic for ages waiting for holes to be drilled for some gauges etc, etc. Thats all done and now i am about to order some new injector seals and she should be ready for action.

In the mean time I've since bought a 309 Gti as a runabout, and a Lotus Exige. Someone has offered me £3500 for the Dimma Turbo on the proviso its MOT'd which i am likely to take.

Between all this I also managed to break my shoulder offroading in morocco.

Tyres on the dimma are cheap compared to the Exige. Lotus developed the tyres for the Exige in conjunction with Yokohama which you can only get through Lotus dealers. Had a set of rears fitted a few weeks ago, £460. (they last 5-10k)
