Recommend Me Some Wheels For My 205 Rallye

Recommended Posts

I think you'll need shorter than that it there is issues, I'm on 6" 500lb springs to clear my wheels with the extra camber on the hubs. Still plenty of trouble so it's not really an issue mind.

Yeah I'll measure up and see what's what.

Think this is the way to go though.

Given a std wheel is 6" and 18ET, an 8" 15ET wheel will sit approx 1" each side.

Yeah I think it's going to be tight. Plus I need a little extra space for some extra camber which is to come.

You'll really struggle if you're wanting camber on the hubs ash. This is gaz golds with standard 1900 wheels,195/50/15s and -2.5 camber machined onto the hubs. There's around 4mm of clearance.

What wishbones are you using? I'm sure mine with the spacers removed has plenty of room. I'm on 309 bones so I guess that's pushing it away a bit more.

It doesn't make any difference what wishbones you use, the hubs dictate the clearance between the damper and the wheel/tyre. As I mentioned, mine is tight because the hubs have had the damper hole bored and sleeved to give more neg camber.

I was showing you as you mentioned you needed more space for camber and you've mailed me about hubs in the past ;)

2.5" coilovers= fook all room

to update this ive been speaking to revolution today and very helpful.

the Reo 5 spoke won't do the job I'm afraid as it wont clear my brakes. it has the following specification.

at ET20 the distance from hub face to strut is 132mm

at ET0 its 112.

you can work what ET10 and so on will be.

The problem lies with caliper clearance, the ET10 has 10mm spoke clearance This is measured from the hub face to the outer edge of the caliper, the ET0 has 30mm clearance.

My car is 130mm to the strut and 40mm clearance to the outer of the caliper.

so to run the Revolution 5 spokes I would need ET00 and still a 15mm spacer!

the bloke at Revolution did admit the brake clearance is poor on these wheels and said the millennium has much better brake clearance.

These are the wheels that Matt has, although his are 16" which I attached a picture back a couple of pages.

I can order a ET12 which is 125mm to the strut and has 55mm brake clearance.

can see here the required spoke clearance. 40mm required although the flash doesn't help.

I also remember that I did bolt up a set of ET28 Ouragans on my 309, they did not rub the strut, though they were damn close :D

do you remember how close and how much room you had left?

in theory an ET12 15X8 by measurements will fit albeit fairly tight. (3mm closer than your Ouragons) although you can't really work out what a tyre is going to do on paper.

I never measured it unfortunately and it was a few years ago, I know I needed a thin spacer on the back to make the tyres clear the ARB end plates.

I'm not sure what to do at the moment. I very nearly ordered the Revolution millennium wheels in 8x15 with an ET8 so they will safely clear the struts. my only concern is how they'll look.... I'd get them sprayed from white to black so they don't stand out so much and fit my cars style more. However I worry the wheels look to modern for my car...

They don't do them in any other colour bar white as I Persume the blanks are already powder coated. I said Is even pay a bit more if they can do them black.

How did you get on in the end?

I am prepping my car for paint and I am thinking of going down the wide arch route like on Matt's car.

I could do with some inspiration ;)

cheers

Neil
