Radiator Recomendations

Looking for a new Rad for my car and wanted to know if anyone can recommend any decent ones cheaper than this.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSENS-Radiator-PEUGEOT-205-1-9-GTI-XU9-No-A-C-86-88-/181234531638?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a326b7d36

I used one from the same seller in my Scirocco but it only cost £35 as opposed to the £64 for the 205 one.

Bit wary of buying any of the non branded ones for £30-£40 unless someone knows of any decent one?

Cheers

Rich

I've got what appears to be one of the cheaper unbranded eBay ones in both my 205's and they work perfectly.

You won't go wrong with a genuine Nissens though.

How long have yours been in the car Ant and any idea which ebay seller theyre from?

Ive no doubt some of the cheap ones will be good. Everythings made in China anyway now, just a case of knowing the good from the bad.

Cheers

Nissens are made in Denmark, used to be about £45 all in from GSF but as I said that was about 7 years ago

I dont believe any of this "made in" stuff anymore. Some of the rules and regs about whats needed to state that are farsical.

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/currency/2013/09/made-in-germany-eu-labelling-regulations.html

But at the end of the day the manufacturing isn't just done in the far east because its cheap anymore. The amount of investment they have available to put into their manufacturing processes/equipment means they are cheaper and just as good if not better.

Like I said its knowing the good from the bad when it comes to the unbranded ones.

The £40 rads are fine. I have fitted maybe half a dozen now.

Yeah, i priced up Valeo ones, including the one from the 'Classic' range but they were a lot more expensive iirc.

If cost wasnt a factor would you rather fit a Nissens rad or a new peugeot rad (the exchange one part number ends QY)

It seems a good price I would go for it if I needed a rad.

So if its an exchange what does that mean exactly?

Cant really see how you can reuse much of a rad other than melt the parts n start again.

Exchange means a re-cored rad.

I was told by my friend who was an ex M/D at Robins and Day most of pugs re-coned parts were new anyway in his opinion, but who knows.

So just the tanks are reused.

How much cost can really be saved reusing the tanks.

Makes more sense its a new one but you just have to hand back the old one for recycling.

Especially as he's advertised it as new Im guessing he wouldn't if the tanks looked used.

My rad turned up today. Box sayspeugeot citroen on the outside but the rad has Nissens stamped on the tanks....

Im perfectly happy using a Nissens rad but Im now dubious of its authenticity.

Anyone got a Nissens rad sat in a box they can help me compare it with?

Cheers

If it has Nissens cast into the tanks I'd be inclined to think its a Nissens rad.

That's a reasonable price for them you have paid.
